The Art of Dance: a Journey into The Power of Movement is an unprecedented immersive cinematic experience that dares us to come alive by tracing the Indigenous and African origins of dance’s evolution through music, community, and culture. This Innovative theatrical feature film and premium documentary series, awakens our souls and ignites inspiration through the beauty and courage of some of the world’s most celebrated dancers on a journey of connection!

Our story begins in our mother’s womb. Her heart is our first drumbeat. Her movements, our first introduction to the comfort and joy of rhythm. We hear her. We feel her. And she feels us. Pure intimacy. She is our primal connection in the healing journey of movement…our first dance. Human beings are social creatures. Yet, we live in a world plagued by an epidemic of disconnection, isolation, and loneliness. Social media tries to help but ends up being a counterfeit connection. It can never measure up to the feeling of our first real primal physical connection to the source of vitality to thrive.

This multi-platform work-in-progress produced by Award-Winning filmmakers with the music of The Cinematic Orchestra features characters with relatable personal underdog stories. Where the audience sees themselves in the shoes of our dancer-protagonists who are pursuing their dreams despite the challenges they face. With compelling story arcs that non-dance fans will stick around for.

Each segment immerses us into the intimate life of a different lead character, who then becomes our first-person guide within their specific tradition. These artisans are masters of their form, each taking us into their own world, showing us the passion, devotion, and practice of their discipline. They reveal their particular challenges to us while peeling back the social and historical knowledge of their art form as only an insider can. With inspired and innovative movement, curated music, rare archival footage, intimate cinema verté and lush cinematography, visually bold and compelling stories are created that are both personal and epic in scale.
