Meet Colin
Growing up in the Rouge Valley greatly influenced Stark's environmental insight within landscape abstractions. An investigation into the depth of meaning between artist and visual perception followed...
...inspired sketches, collages and photographs.
Stark pursued extensive travels abroad, culminating in a calculated adventure of works of art.
Upon return to his studies, such reflections and experiences led to the serendipitous meetings and introductions of great influential artistic friendships and mentorships.

His work, influenced by extensive global travels and meaningful artistic mentorships, offers discerning collectors pieces that not only beautify elegant homes but serve as meaningful investments in Toronto's cultural landscape.
"Colin's work speaks to the refined aesthetic sensibilities of our community," says the curator of The Artist Series. "His pieces complement the architectural character of our neighborhood's distinctive homes while offering lasting artistic value."
In 2005 artist Gordon Rayner, Johson’s contemporary at OCA, took Stark on as his studio assistant. Subsequently, Stark assisted Gordon, helping stretch canvases, do house repairs and famously enjoy many fine Lunches.“We became great confidants as he treated me like a son.”
His wife Kate Rayner was an equally amazing mentor and after Gordon’s passing in 2010, Kate honoured Gordon’s wishes to grant continued access to the studio for Stark. Their great friendship continued until Kate's epiphany to leave the studio and attached house to Stark as a part of an artistic dynasty in 2023 upon her passing. This is where Stark remains to this day creating and loving the process in the very studio which Rayner used for his many productive years. This is the origin story of Stark's continued legacy.
